THE NOTES IN THE MARGIN / 05

BOARD QUESTIONS. Straight answers.

Before it goes to the board, a few things worth knowing.

01What does it cost over five years?

Installed once, against a mowing contract renewed every season. Your branch prices the installation for the property; nobody here puts a number on either side of that comparison until they have seen the grounds.

02How do you price a larger property?

By the area, the ranges specified and the access on site. Tell us the property and the nearest branch and they will put a number together you can take to a board.

QUOTED BY THE BRANCH THAT SERVES THE PROPERTY.

03What about the paths people actually walk?

Traffic concentrates, and the specification usually follows it. Your branch can talk through heavier face weights and backings for the lines people take, rather than the same surface everywhere.

04Can you work to our specification?

Send it to the branch. They can tell you which ranges meet it, where they differ and what the alternatives are, before anything is ordered.

05What does maintenance look like across a property?

Rinsing and an occasional brush, scheduled rather than weekly. Your branch can set out what that looks like for the areas and the ranges you choose.

06Can we see it somewhere before we commit?

Ask your branch about samples and about work in your area. Standing on a surface is a better test than any sheet of figures.

07Can we get a quote in writing for a board meeting?

Yes. The branch prepares a written quote against the area and the ranges specified, which is what the form at the foot of this page starts. The specification for the range is on one page, printable, so it can go on the same agenda.
